Copy Contact Attributes Into Custom Fields
Map Department to Custom Field on a company's settings is now Map Contact Attributes to Custom Fields. Department still works as before, and five more attributes can each be copied into a ConnectWise contact custom field of your choice:
- Entra Object ID: the Microsoft 365 user's object id. For a company that syncs both Active Directory and Microsoft 365, this is the Microsoft 365 id, not the AD SID.
- AD SID: the user's on-premises Active Directory SID.
- Username: the AD sAMAccountName, the Microsoft 365 mail nickname, or the Google Workspace primary email.
- User Principal Name: the AD or Microsoft 365 UPN.
- Office Location: the Microsoft 365 office location.
Each sync writes the value when it creates a contact, and again whenever the value changes. If a user's sources cannot supply an attribute (an AD SID for a Microsoft 365-only user, for example), that contact's field is left as it is. The first sync after you choose a field fills it for every contact. Pending changes show on the review page with the attribute they come from.
A custom field can hold only one attribute. If a Contact Mapping also sets the field, the attribute's value is written instead, and the card warns about the overlap. The field must be a Text field with entry method Entry Field.
